The popularity of braids will continue and judging by the imaginative new braid styles that delight us each new season, we can look forward to some fascinating new braiding techniques and styles!

There will be a resurgence of vintage braid styles – and there’s a centuries’ old tradition of braids to choose from! I expect to see messy 1960’s Brigitte Bardot side-plaits along with some sleek and elegant formal braids for evening wear.

The styles we’ve seen range from cute French braids on side-swept styles to punk/Goth romantic creations. Dolce & Gabbana and Givenchy models wore fantastic braids and braids intertwined with silk scarves, ribbons, rags and bits of old lace are finally being featured by the big fashion brands.

The combed back just-out-of-the-shower-look is being promoted as an ultra-modern hairstyle for 2015 by several top fashion brands, including Lanvin. However, I’ll be surprised if it actually emerges as a popular look. Just putting gel on your hair and combing it straight back from the forehead isn’t a flattering way to wear hair!

Last year, I only remember seeing it on a ‘red carpet’ celebrity once – and she was ridiculed by comments asking if she had just stepped out of the shower and not had time to style her hair!

The pony-tail will keep its position as one of the best hairstyles for 2015, as it can be infinitely varied to suit every face shape and personal style!

For a stunning evening pony-tail, copy the extra-long bubble ponytail or take a leaf out of Victoria Beckham’s posh look-book and opt for a simple centre parting, with a straight pony-tail at the nape.

For a casual, grungy look there are messy ponies from ‘Rag & Bone’ and we loved the funky idea of creating different sections of texture and colour in a long pony-tail.

For instance, take a piece of fabric and fasten it to a section of hair by winding a piece of fine cord or string around them both. Then crimp another section, and twist some beads around a third section until you have a totally unique eclectic pony-tail!

10 Hairstyles That Make You Look 10 Years Younger

News flash: Your youth fix doesn't have to come in a bottle—or a needle. Your hairstyle could actually take years off (or add them to) your look. Don't believe us? Check out these celebrities—each one gorgeous, of course, but also looking older due to certain overly perfect hairdos. Anti-aging tip number one? Mess it up a little.

AMY ADAMS

Older: Adams's acting is above reproach. Her stuffy, shellacked chignon is not.

Younger: This braided and middle-parted updo is a great argument for revisiting your Pippi Longstocking days. Just remember: Twisted up into a bun, braids look chic; worn down, they really only belong on the playground.

BEYONCÉ

Older: This is pageant hair, and pageant hair is aging. (Unless you're in a Miss Octogenarian contest.)

Younger: To get Beyoncé's loose, carefree (and young-looking) waves, rake a tangerine-size dollop of light-hold mousse from roots to ends. Let hair air-dry, then wrap sections of various sizes—so it doesn't look too done—around a medium-barrel curling iron for five seconds each. Finish by running your fingers through it to break up any stubbornly perfect curls.

KATE MOSS

Older: If these droopy curls can suck the life out of the preternaturally cool Moss, imagine what they would do to a mere mortal.

Younger: Moss—and pretty much everyone else—looks cooler and younger with roughed-up hair. Take a cue from the supermodel and pair rumpled hair with smoky eyes and a stylish outfit to make sure the look is rock and roll, not just-rolled-out-of-bed.

Older: Barrel curls and a forehead flip make Banks's hair look so stiff and sculpted you could easily imagine it on a bust in a museum.

Younger: A middle part and tousled waves are youthful and the perfect texture for her shoulder-length lob.

Older: Don't get us wrong, dark brown can be rich, lively, and beautiful. But single color tends to look flat and a little wiglike.

Younger: The lighter and darker shades of creamy blonde create dimension and make Barrymore's skin glow. (OK, the fact that she was pregnant in this picture probably helped a little, too.)

Older: This baby-chicken-on-your-head color wouldn't work on anyone, and it makes both Suvari's hair and face look brittle.

10 No Blow Dryer-Required Hairstyles

Who wants to waste precious beach time doing their hair? Ditch the hot tools when the temperatures rise—these fun, easy styles make going from the pool to a party a total breeze!

Sleek Ponytail

If you’re in a total rush to get to an afternoon BBQ, slick it back into a ponytail! Use a fine-tooth comb to smooth wet hair straight back, and secure with a fun, neon hair tie. As it dries, twirl your 'tail around your finger to create natural, bouncy waves!

Double Topknots

Summer parties are the perfect excuse to have a little Miley moment! To get her famous double buns, part your hair down the middle and make two high ponytails. Twist each pony into two messy buns, and secure with elastics. The messier, the better!

Side Twist

This cool update to the side pony is so easy to do—it's even quicker than braiding! Pull your hair to one side and separate into two sections. Twist both sections the same direction as you wrap them around each other in the opposite direction.

Low-Key French Twist

No need to sweat it out in the bathroom to score this glam style. Let your hair dry in the sun, then apply gel from roots to tips to give it a wet look. Gather your hair at the nape of your neck and rake through your strands with your fingers, leaving bumps here and there for an undone look, and twist up. Tuck the ends in and set with bobby pins.

High Braid

To try this sporty style, pull all your hair as high up as it will go and secure into a ponytail with a clear elastic. Then, braid the ponytail—stick to a regular three-strand plait, or mix it up with a fishtail. Add a pop of color by piling on fun, retro scrunchies!
